STAGG® Chili Supports Minor Hockey With $30,000 Contribution For Third Consecutive Year
TORONTO – Hormel Foods,
the maker of STAGG® Chili, is proud
to continue its commitment for the third consecutive year as an official
sponsor of the Ontario Hockey League and founder of the SAVES for SUCCESS program. The program contributed $30,000 to minor
hockey teams in Ontario and Western Canada. Congratulations to the Waterloo Wolves Major Peewees (3rd Place) and the Waterloo Wolves Minor Peewee Selects (Wildcard Draw).
42 teams went on-line to StaggChili.ca this year to submit a photo of teammates showing STAGG® Chili products in a fun and creative way. Team members, friends and family went on-line to vote for their team and also had the opportunity to win savings from promotional partners TeamSnap and Travelodge. Six teams in each division (Ontario and Western Canada) were awarded cash prizes to be used to fund team jerseys, ice time costs and other related minor hockey team expenses.
This year the additional voting method was continued for the players that already fuel their game with STAGG® Chili. Specially-marked cans of STAGG® Chili contained a unique PIN printed on the reverse side of the can’s label. Each PIN was worth three additional votes in the contest. .
The Ontario winning teams this year were:
1st place: $5,000 – Peterborough Major Peewee AE Petes
Second through Fifth Place in each division: $2,000
2nd – Peterborough RS Novice Petes
3rd – Waterloo Wolves
4th – Lincoln Blades Peewee AE
5th – Brockville City A1 Radiator Jr. Braves
Wildcard Draw (minimum 100 votes): $2,000 Waterloo Wolves Minor Peewee Selects
The prize money helps to benefit teams in a variety of different ways. Team manager, Laura Armstrong, of this year`s 1st place team, the Peterborough Major Peewee AE Petes explains: "The $5000 dollar grand prize will provide our team of 17 boys with extra ice time for practices, equipment, and development sessions to prepare for try-outs and even an end of season tournament! Having support from organizations like Stagg Chili means an immense amount to the boys who work so hard to be their best throughout the hockey season.”
