Icing Rule Pilot

For the purpose of this rule, the defending teams blue line will be used to determine icing the Puck. Should any Player of a team, equal or superior in numerical strength to the opposing team shoot, "bat" or deflect the puck from her own defensive zone, beyond the goal line of the opposing team, play shall be stopped and the puck faced-off at the end zone face-off spot of the offending team. Any contact with the Puck over the defending team's blue line, with the puck continuing down over the goal line, nullifies "icing" the puck‎.

The purpose of this rule change is to determine how it can improve the game with the ability to have options in the neutral zone and not limit a players ability to make passes or plays through the neutral zone.

This rule can reduce the number of stoppages in a game and keep the game moving for the enjoyment of the players.

We would like to determine if a players skills can be improved and enhanced with this Rule Change. The most important purpose of this rule is to allow a player the opportunity to make decisions with play through the neutral zone safely.
