'Section 11 – Maltreatment’ to place more emphasis on addressing incidents on ice

In furthering its commitment to being leaders in safety and inclusivity, Hockey Canada has introduced an update to its rulebook to focus on recognizing and reporting incidents of maltreatment.
In a special meeting of the Members held on June 22, 2021, Hockey Canada and its 13 Members unanimously approved the adoption of Section 11 – Maltreatment in the Hockey Canada Rulebook starting this season, which includes bringing all forms of maltreatment under one section of the rulebook and providing guidelines for escalating penalties based on the severity of the inappropriate behaviour from players and team officials. Stratford, Ont. – The ALLIANCE Hockey Vaccination Policy will continue to apply for all Affected Persons, including those aged 12 (2009 birth year) to 18.  

ALLIANCE Hockey continues to monitor the evolving public health responses to the COVID-19 pandemic and incorporate provincial and local public health unit Orders, regulations and directives into our policies, practices and guidelines. ALLIANCE Hockey remains committed to doing what is necessary to keep our participants as safe as possible by following the recommendations from public health care professionals to provide sustainable programming throughout the season.

ALLIANCE Hockey recognizes the significant impact that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on sports and recreation. We understand how important hockey is to our members and are committed to doing what is necessary to keep our game as safe as possible for the 2021-22 season.

In keeping with the most recent announcements and recommendations for amateur sports leagues, ALLIANCE Hockey will require proof of COVID-19 immunization for all vaccine eligible participants (12 years of age (2009 birth year) and above and unless exempted) including players, coaches, officials, staff and volunteers in order to participate in ALLIANCE Hockey sanctioned programming. Eligible participants will require proof of having received their first dose by September 17, 2021 and be fully vaccinated by October 31, 2021.
