Waterloo Wolves Win Kelowna International Tournament Title
Waterloo, ON - We are proud to announce that the Waterloo Wolves Major Midget AAA Hockey Team are the 2016 Champions of the 37th BDO Kelowna International Elite Major Midget Tournament. The Wolves won the championship with a perfect record of 7 straight wins.

“Our young men represented the City of Waterloo, the Waterloo Minor Hockey Association, Alliance Hockey, our program and themselves very well,” said Head Coach Jeff Brick, “We put forward a strong team effort bolstered by excellent goaltending and fueled by a tenacious work ethic. We are very proud of how our team played.”

The team also received other accolades at the tournament.  Team Captain Sam Cherry and forward Jeremy Goodwin were named to the Kelowna International All Stars team, with Cherry also being awarded the title of Tournament Top Scorer.

The Waterloo Wolves also had the honour of being presented with the Blair Dietz – Bill Wylie Memorial Trophy Award. This trophy is awarded to the team displaying the greatest work ethic; maintaining aggressive play within the guidelines of fair play and good sportsmanship. The Wolves also won this award in 2014, when they finished in 2nd place in Kelowna.

The Wolves, currently sitting in 1st place in the Alliance Hockey League, have a week off before hosting the London Jr Knights at RIM Park on Monday, January 18. 

The regular season wraps up for the Wolves on January 27 with playoffs starting shortly thereafter.  The Wolves are also hosting the Central Region Midget AAA Championships in March/April 2016.
