Kitamura Named ALLIANCE Referee of the Year
Stratford, ON. – ALLIANCE Hockey is pleased to announce that Glenn Kitamura (Kitchener, ON) has been named the recipient of the 2019-20 ALLIANCE Hockey Referee of the Year award.

REFEREE OF THE YEAR – Glenn Kitamura, ALLIANCE Hockey

With over 30 years of officiating experience, Glenn Kitamura is one of the most respected Officials in our game today.  Kitamura is a Level 4 on-ice Official and has officiated all levels of hockey, including various events and Championships throughout his tenure.

Off the ice, Glenn is a Referee Supervisor and mentor for numerous officials in the West Zone. His professional background as a teacher and school principal has also made Kitamura one of the top HCOP Clinic Instructors in ALLIANCE Hockey.  Kitamura has been especially instrumental in working with entry-level Officials and coordinating entry level clinics.  His patient demeanor and practical approach to both the game and officiating are assets to the program.

Locally, Kitamura is a regular participant in Kitchener Minor Hockey Association monthly referee meetings where his contributions are invaluable.  He also sits on the KMHA Referee Review Committee and has participated in KMHA Board Meetings to advise on officiating matters when needed.

“I believe some of the strongest attributes that Glenn possesses are the dedication he has to the ALLIANCE Hockey Officiating Program and his genuine love for Officiating. He has committed so many hours to helping Officials at all levels to become better. The Referee of the Year Award is definitely well deserved,” said ALLIANCE Hockey West Zone Coordinator Lance Roberts.

Thank you, Glenn, for your dedication and service to the ALLIANCE Hockey Officiating Program and congratulations!
