ON, The top 40, 2000 birth year players
from 12 Bantam teams in ALLIANCE Hockey showcased their talents this past
Saturday at the first annual Bantam AAA All-Star game at the Waterloo
Recreational Complex. The teams were
split into an East versus West format which ended in an exciting 4 – 3 win for
the East.
The West opened the scoring mid-way through the first period as Lucas Knowles, Lambton Jr. Sting scored two goals 30 seconds apart to take a commanding 2 – 0 lead after one period of play. The East mounted a comeback scoring early in the second period on a goal by Anthony Grigg of the Hamilton Huskies. The East scored the next 3 goals with Spencer Kersten, Waterloo Wolves scoring the eventual winner, assisted by teammate Mitchell Hoelscher just 25 seconds into the third period. The East received stellar goaltending from the tandem of Rhetton Kimmel Kitchener Jr. Rangers who stopped 19 of 21 shots and Nathan Torchia, Waterloo Wolves who stopped 19 of 20 shots. In total the West outshot the East 41 to 27.
Players of the Game for the Team East was Brady Hinz of the Huron Perth Lakers for Team West Lucas Knowles of the Lambton Jr. Sting.
