2024 ALLIANCE HOCKEY U10-U16 BB-B CHAMPIONSHIPS - APRIL 12-14, 2024

U10-U16 BB-B – How to Qualify
• Tier 1: the top 4 Tier 1 teams at the end of seeded league play will qualify for the 2024 BB Championships.
• The seeded regular season ends April 2, 2024.

• Tier 2: the top 4 Tier 2 teams at the end of seeded League play will qualify for the 2024 B Championships.
• The seeded regular season ends April 2, 2024.

• Travel Permits required, Sanction #: 24-039

• Team entry fee is $1500.00/team. **ALLIANCE Hockey will invoice Member Associations (NOT teams) for the entry fees.**  
• The schedule will be posted as soon as possible.

Please be sure to review the Championship Regulations below prior to the start of the Championships:

• Teams are required to provide the Championship Directorate located in the Event Office with their travel permit prior to their first game (if not submitted upon registration).
• E-game sheets will be used for all games. Team officials must check-in at the Event Office at least 30 minutes prior to game time. All team officials who will be on the bench for that game are required to personally sign the game sheet. Team officials must complete the game sheet in the Event Office. iPads are not to be taken to the change rooms.

General
• Hockey Canada rules will apply. The Championship Director has final say on all tournament rules, regulations, and protests.
• The OHF suspension list will be used to assess all major, Misconduct and Match Penalties. The Championship Directorate may add to the suspension, if appropriate. If a player or coach receives a suspension during the tournament, the team must check with the Championship Directorate to confirm the number of games to be served. Any player receiving a fighting major will be suspended for the duration of the Championships.
• The Championship Directorate reserves the right to make any and/or all decisions.

Rosters

• All teams will be limited to a maximum of 19 players. Teams are allowed a maximum of 5 Team Officials on the bench.
• Only team officials who are on the officially approved team roster will be allowed on the bench and only players who are on the officially approved team roster will be allowed on the ice.
Affiliated Players(AP’s) must be on the approved roster to be allowed to participate (including AP Goalies).
• Any team found with ineligible players/team officials participating in a game will be disqualified from the event.
Note: Games won by a disqualified team will be recorded as a win for the opposing team at a score of 1–0.
• The home team is designated by the tournament schedule. The home team wears dark jerseys. In the case of conflicting sweaters, the home team will change.

Team Composition
• Teams are required to meet the following minimum composition standards:
o U15 and above: 10 skaters + 1 goaltender (refers to rostered players).
o U10 through U14: 9 skaters + 1 goaltender (refers to rostered Players).

If a team(s) are at the arena and the numbers outlined above cannot be met (i.e. injuries/suspensions occur during game), the Hockey Canada Rule of 6 players constitutes a game is implemented: Section #2, Teams, Situation 3 (page 13).

SITUATION 7 Rule 2.5 (d) Where a team is unable to place the exact number of players on the ice to which they are entitled whether due to penalties or injuries, the Referee shall suspend the game and report this incident to the President. ALLIANCE Hockey rules state that 30 minutes constitutes a game. (page 18)

Hockey Canada Rule 10.14 Refusing to Start Play The penalty for refusing to Start Play is severe and may result in a 1-year suspension. Every effort needs to be taken to avoid Refusal to Start Play coaches on both teams must work with the officials to avoid unsafe play. A decision to stop play must be agreed upon by all parties. If such a decision is made, teams should utilize the ice and provide opportunity for participants to play in a controlled environment that is safe and provides quality player experience for both teams, suggestion even up teams and continue to play.

If a team is unable to compete, the game shall be recorded as a win for the opposing team at a score of 1–0.


Games, Schedule
• No one is allowed on the ice until the ice resurfacing machine has left the ice and the doors are closed.
Teams shall be prepared to play 15 minutes ahead of scheduled start times.
• There will be a 3-minute warm up prior to the start of each game. All teams will shake hands at the end of each game.
• Game lengths:
U10, U11, U12, U13: 10-10-15
U14: 10-15-B-15
U15, U16: 10-15-F-15
• Floods will occur at the end of the game, as designated by division, or as designated by the Championship Directorate when required.
• One time out per team in Round Robin, Semi-Final and Final games.
• Points will be awarded as follows: Two points for a win, one point for a tie and zero points for a loss.

Tie-Breaker Round Robin
• Ties in round robin games will remain a tie with each team earning one point.
• In the event of a tie at the end of round robin play, the ALLIANCE Hockey Policy 7.0: Tie-Breaker procedure will be used to break the tie. If the procedure reaches 7.1.4, penalty minutes from the Championship event would be calculated to break a tie.

Tie-Breaker Semi-Final, Final
• If at the end of regulation time the score is tied, the following shall then apply:
• The teams shall not change ends.
• The puck shall be faced off at center ice and the play shall continue with a five-minute stop-time sudden victory overtime
period, played at regular strength.
The first goal scored shall determine the winner. If a winner has not been decided by overtime, the teams will commence a 3-player shoot out.
The Home Team shall have the option of shooting first or second.
In the event the game is still tied after the 3-player shoot out, each team must continue to shoot, one shooter at a time until one team gamins victory. Teams must use all players before repeating shooters.
Penalties carry over from regulation into overtime.
Any player serving a penalty at the end of the 5-minute overtime is not eligible to participate in the shootout.

• In the event of inclement weather, games cannot be cancelled or rescheduled. There will not be any repercussions levied against players/teams who in their best judgement cannot travel to games, but games will be recorded as a 5-0 forfeit as per Hockey Canada rules. In the event of both teams not attending a game, both teams will receive a 5–0 forfeit.
• There are no appeals. All decisions of the Championship Directorate and Official(s) are final.
• The Team Trainer has authority on decisions regarding injuries.
• Each Team is responsible for ensuring they have an Emergency Action Plan in place.

Change Rooms & Corridor Access
• Change rooms are to be vacated promptly after the game has been completed. Arena staff will inspect the room prior to the next team entering.
• Accommodation requests for change rooms shall be made by contacting the Championship Directorate prior to the start of the Championship.
Spectators are NOT allowed in the bench area corridor, change rooms, or the timekeeper’s area.
• At no time will any coaches, players, family members, or spectators be allowed in or near the referee room(s). NO EXCEPTIONS. Only the timekeepers and/or Championship Directorate are to meet with the on-ice officials.
• As per Bulletin #23-025, there will be zero tolerance of inappropriate/excessively loud music in change rooms.
Any damage to the facility by a member may involve immediate removal from the facility for the duration of the Championship and may result in disqualification of the event. Teams/Members will be responsible for payment of any damage to the facility by any member.

Discipline
• There is ZERO tolerance for any maltreatment towards a referee, Championship official, team official, timekeeper, player, or coach. Hockey Canada Maltreatment rules are in effect.
• If a player or team official is ordered to the change room for the balance of the game, further disciplinary action may be deemed necessary by the Championship Directorate.
• In all cases, the Ontario Hockey Federation Minimum Suspension Guidelines for Minor Hockey, as approved by the Ontario Hockey Federation Board of Directors for the current season, shall be used as a guideline.
• The Championship Directorate shall rule on all Match Penalties assessed during any game of the Championship series.
• There shall be no protest on a referee’s discretionary penalty call.
• There shall be no protest on the outcome of the Championship game.
• Any player or team official under suspension in regular season play is not eligible to participate in any game of the Championship until the required number of games have been served.
• The Championship Directorate will not be responsible for any injuries incurred during the event. All precautions will be taken to protect participants.
