Cristiano DiGiacinto who played his minor hockey with the
Hamilton Huskies has been signed by the Windsor Spitfires of the Ontario Hockey League.
Cristiano played with the Huskie Major Midgets last season and AP'd with the Burlington Cougars for a few games.
This season he signed with the hometown Red Wings whom he credits with giving him the opportunity to play and be seen at the junior level and opening the door to this exciting opportunity.
“Christiano is a great story of passion perseverance and determination. It speaks very well of Midget AAA Hockey and Christiano as a player", said Tony Martindale Executive Director of ALLIANCE Hockey. Christiano was not drafted to the OHL in his Minor Midget year, made the decision to play Midget AAA for his hometown Hamilton Huskies during the 2012-13 season where he continued to develop as a player. Congratulations to the Hamilton Huskies who developed Christiano DiGiacinto and to Christiano, for making the most of his opportunity in his first 3 games with the Windsor Spitfires.
OHL's WINDSOR SPITFIRES ADD DiGIACINTO
General Manager Warren Rychel has announced the club has added free agent forward Cristiano DiGiacinto.
The 5'11, 185-pound native of Hamilton, Ontario played nine games this season for the OJHL's Hamilton Red Wings, scoring eight times and adding three assists along with 37 penalty minutes.
“We're excited to add Cristiano to our lineup,” Rychel said. With limited draft picks, we need to find and sign quality players. We like his intensity and ability around the net. He's a gritty player that has demonstrated the ability to finish at the Tier II level. We look forward to him doing the same with the Windsor Spitfires.”
Born January 10, 1996, DiGiacinto also played four games with the Burlington Cougars last season, posting a goal and two assits with four penalty minutes.
