Congratulations to the Official's Program of Excellence Class of 2014 on a very successful event!
The ALLIANCE Hockey Official's Program of Excellence is an annual development program for young Officials. The program hosts Officials from across ALLIANCE Hockey for 3 days and is designed to specifically provide the Official with skills not currently available in other formats. Participation is through invitation by the local Zone Coordinators and Officials take part in classroom sessions and on-ice sessions in addition to officiating select games at the Great Lakes Cup Tournament. Supervision and video analysis is also part of the program.
Officials have the opportunity to learn from the very best Hockey Canada Instructors as well as National Hockey League and Ontario Hockey League Coaches and Officials. Many of last year’s participants are now working at the junior level, with others working regularly at the Midget AAA level.
The 2014 POE was hosted January 17-19, 2014 in Stratford, ON with games offered in conjunction with The Great Lakes Cup hosted by the Huron Perth Lakers www.huronperthlakers.ca.
Sincere thanks goes out to special guests Steve Miller, Jesse Wilmot, Heather Richardson, Alan Selby and to Coordinator Darren Flagg for their time and expertise!
Thank you as well to FORCE Sports for their gracious support of the Program!
Best of luck to all participants for the remainder of the season and in their future officiating endeavours!
