HAMILTON HUSKIES ANNOUNCE ALUMNI WEEKEND
Hamilton, ON – The Hamilton Huskies Minor Hockey Association will be hosting a Media Conference on Tuesday April 29th, at 2:45 p.m., at Kelsey’s Westdale at 875 Main Street West in Hamilton to announce its inaugural Alumni Events and its inaugural Hamilton Huskies Hall of Fame Inductees.

On August 16th, 2014 The Hamilton Huskies Minor Hockey Association celebrates its 43 year history with The Inaugural Hamilton Huskies Alumni Weekend, including The Huskies Alumni Golf Tournament to be held at Kings Forest Golf Club, and The Huskies Hall of Fame Dinner hosted by the Hamilton Convention Centre by Carmen’s, all in support of The Dave Andreychuk Foundation.

Media Conference Special Guests will include Stanley Cup Champion and current Tampa Bay Lightning Vice President Dave Andreychuk (1639 NHL games played), fellow Huskies Alumni Joe Cirella who is currently the Assistant Coach of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds of the OHL whose NHL career lasted 14 seasons with 828 games played, the legendary Harry Howell who played Police Minor Hockey in Hamilton prior to embarking on a 20 year NHL Career with 1411 games played, Huskies Alumni Ambassador Ryan Kuwabara who is currently the Head Coach and General Manager of the Ancaster Avalanche Junior Hockey Club who played 15 season professionally in Japan, and the honourable Mayor Bob Bratina.  Additional notable alumni are also anticipated to attend.

“Huskies Alumni cross a wide rink of sport, community, and business involvement locally, provincially, nationally and internationally”, states Huskies General Manager Mike Spadafora.  “We invite players, coaches, executive, parents and volunteers to share memories and to pay tribute to builders of hockey in Hamilton.”

The Hamilton Huskies organization was founded in 1971 as the Hamilton Minor Hockey Association (HMHA).  The organization has been a key part of the landscape of minor hockey for over 40 years beginning with AAA, AA and house league opportunities for youth, evolving through many changes to a recently rebranded Huskies name.

“I am pleased to be a part of this event”, says Huskies’ graduate Andreychuk.  “I remember my youth hockey days in Hamilton fondly, and have many family still here; I return as often as possible to visit family and friends while also promoting the efforts of the foundation.  Our Foundation was built to assist children in need and I am grateful that funds raised from this weekend will support our mission.”
