2014 OHL Gold Cup - Team ALLIANCE Takes Game 1
Jared Nash had two goals and two assists to lead Team ALLIANCE to a 5-2 victory over Team OMHA Black. Nash found the back of the net 4:27 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Team ALLIANCE and again while 8:38 into the third to make the score 5-2 Team ALLIANCE.

Team ALLIANCE's penalty kill excelled, as Team ALLIANCE gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Team ALLIANCE forced Team OMHA Black's goalies to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots and forcing 26 saves. Joseph Murdaca made 26 stops and Jake Lawr made zero. Team ALLIANCE stifled Team OMHA Black's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Team ALLIANCE additionally got points from Alexander Dekoning, who also finished with two goals and two assists. Chase Campbell also scored for Team ALLIANCE. Other players who recorded assists for Team ALLIANCE were Nicolas Hague, Adam Keyes, and Anthony Salinitri, who each chipped in one.

Team OMHA Black's defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. Team OMHA Black gives up 2.5 goals per game.

Team OMHA Black was led by Brandon Saigeon, who registered two goals. Saigeon scored the first of his two goals at 3:10 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Team OMHA Black. Colin Tonge assisted on the tally. Saigeon's next tally made the score 2-1 Team OMHA Black with 7:59 left in the first period. Team OMHA Black played down a man on Mitchell Mendonca's hooking. In addition, Team OMHA Black received assists from Christopher Paquette, who had one.

Joseph Raaymakers recorded 25 saves for Team ALLIANCE. Team ALLIANCE incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Team OMHA Black incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
