London,
ON - In cooperation with Hockey
Canada, Bauer and the GLHA, ALLIANCE Hockey participated in the launch of “The First Shift” Program October 11,
2014 in London, ON. The
First Shift Program is designed to break down the barriers to entry by
creating a welcoming environment for new-to-hockey families, and to deliver a
program that is accessible, affordable and most importantly, fun!
The Program
includes a one-time Welcome Event, a 6-week On Ice Trial, and a Transition
Program.
The GLHA were
excited to welcome 30 new participants ages 6-10 to the great game of hockey at
their Welcome Event on Saturday. The
participants were properly fitted from head-to-skate with brand new Bauer
hockey equipment. Bauer’s Director of Brand Initiatives, Mary-Kay
Messier was one of the many supporters on hand to welcome the kids into the London
program. Sportsnet was also on site interviewing
the new-to-hockey families in conjunction with the Hometown Hockey event that
was additionally hosted in London this past weekend.
The First
Shift participants will be testing their new equipment over the next 6 weeks as
they take to the ice learning the fundamentals of the game. ALLIANCE Hockey would like to extend a big welcome
to the new hockey families and thank Bauer, Hockey Canada and the Greater
London Hockey Association for helping to make dreams a reality with The First Shift
Program!
