Submitted By Tracy Pauli on Friday, December 19, 2014
Team Ontario Director of Operations Patrick Sweeney along with Head Coach Drew Bannister, Assistant Coaches David Schlitt and Cyril Bollers announced the 20-man roster today for Ontario's Under 16 Men's Team that will compete at the upcoming 2015 Canada Winter Games taking place in Prince George, B.C. from February 13th to March 1, 2015.

“It is always challenging trying to select a team from such a deep talent pool where the athletes are performing at a high level within their sport. We realize that there will always be disappointment for those players who are not selected at the end of the evaluation process however, we as a staff are excited about the team we have put together who will represent Ontario at the 2015 Canada Winter Games. We believe that the players we have selected will give us the best chance of accomplishing our goal of winning the Gold medal at the Canada Winter Games, stated Director of Operations Patrick Sweeney."

"I am honored and excited to lead and coach this talented and dedicated group of athletes that will represent Ontario at the 2015 Canada Winter Games. I know that this group will represent Ontario with class both on and off the ice at the event said head coach Drew Bannister.”

The team will depart for Prince George on February 21st, as they will begin their quest for gold at the 2015 Canada Winter Games. Men’s hockey will take place during the second week of the games from February 22nd through March 1st 2015. The tournament features 12 teams, one from the North West Territories, one from the Yukon as well as one each from the ten Provinces.

Team Ontario is in Pool A that also features Team British Columbia, Team Manitoba and Team New Brunswick. A schedule of games will be posted on the HDCO website when it becomes available. The Hockey Development Centre for Ontario (HDCO) facilitates the Men’s Under-16 Canada Winter Games hockey program on behalf of the 3 Ontario Branches of Hockey Canada.

Congratulations to ALLIANCE Hockey players Isaac Ratcliffe (London Jr Knights), Hayden Davis (Hamilton Huskies) and Michael DiPietro (Sun County Panthers) for being selected to the team.  Also to Nick Suzuki (London Jr Knights) named as an Alternate and David Schlitt (Huron Perth Lakers) Assistant Coach for Team Ontario.
