Stratford, ON - Twenty-six of ALLIANCE Hockey’s top officials gathered at the Komoka Community Wellness & Recreation Centre on Sunday, January 24, 2016 to participate in a full day of training and preparation associated with obtaining their Level 3 HCOP status. The day included off-ice classroom sessions with in-depth focus on such topics as penalties, head contact, end positioning, communication, etc.
Along with the classroom component, the officials were put to the test as they completed a variety of on-ice skills testing including 40m forward and backward skating, puck shuttle, and laps. A comprehensive Hockey Canada Officiating Program exam was also a component of the Level 3 Clinic.
The Instructors were Supervisor Chris Perkins and ALLIANCE Hockey TD-Referees, Marshall Copp. ALLIANCE Hockey Supervisors Pat Bell and Rob Eagleson were the on-ice Instructors.
A “Top Official” award was also presented at the clinic to the Official who had the best combined score from the on-ice testing and the exam. Mitchell Dunning of Windsor achieved this recognition and received a pro referee jersey courtesy of FORCE SPORTS (www.forcesports.com).
Congratulations to all of the Officials for their commitment, hard work and successful participation in the clinic!
