2016 ALLIANCE Hockey Annual Awards Banquet Held in Grand Bend
Stratford, ON - The 2016 ALLIANCE Hockey Awards Banquet was hosted on June 3, 2016 in Grand Bend, ON.  The annual event marked the conclusion of the 2015-2016 hockey season and recognized those volunteers who provided tireless service to ALLIANCE Hockey.

ALLIANCE Hockey Awards Program

The ALLIANCE Hockey Awards Program was introduced during the 2001-02 season to formally recognize the efforts and achievements of ALLIANCE Hockey members who dedicate themselves to furthering the great game of hockey.
The inaugural set of awards were presented at the 2001 ALLIANCE Hockey Annual General Meeting. The tradition has since continued with awards being bestowed upon local Association individuals who have dedicated themselves to the ideals of ALLIANCE Hockey; who have worked tirelessly for the improvement of their local Association and ALLIANCE Hockey and who have had a notable impact on the game.

ALLIANCE Hockey Awards include:
  • Coach of the Year Award
  • Trainer of the Year Award
  • Referee of the Year Award
  • Volunteer of the Year Award
  • Award of Merit

ALLIANCE Hockey appreciates that there are many individuals dedicating their time and efforts to making this great game even better for those who participate across  the ALLIANCE and was pleased to recognize the 2016 recipients along with their nominating Associations on Friday evening.  Winning recipients were presented with a special plaque at the ALLIANCE Hockey Annual Awards Banquet and a commemorative plaque also hangs in the ALLIANCE Hockey Corporate Office recognizing the achievements of all recipients.   • ALLIANCE HOCKEY VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR AWARD
The ALLIANCE Hockey Volunteer of the Year Award recognizes outstanding  contributions, involvement and service to ALLIANCE Hockey. ALLIANCE Hockey Volunteer of the Year Award  recipients have displayed  commitment to the ideals of ALLIANCE Hockey, have worked tirelessly  for the improvement of the game at their local Association level and have made a notable impact on both the game an the players involved.  The recipient must be active in hockey during the year of the award presentation.

2016 RECIPIENT: JACK MCNAUGHTON, STRATFORD MINOR HOCKEY ASSOCIATION
  • ALLIANCE HOCKEY COACH OF THE YEAR AWARD
The ALLIANCE Hockey Coach of the Year Award recognizes outstanding contributions, involvement and service to ALLIANCE Hockey  in the area of coaching. ALLIANCE Hockey Coach of the Year Award recipients have displayed commitment  to the ideals of ALLIANCE Hockey, have worked tirelessly  for the improvement of the game at their local Association level and have made a notable impact on both the game and the players involved.  The recipient must be active in hockey during the year of the award presentation.

2016 RECIPIENT: SCOTT WELDON, HAMILTON MINOR HOCKEY COUNCIL

  • ALLIANCE HOCKEY TRAINER OF THE YEAR AWARD
The ALLIANCE Hockey Trainer of the Year Award recognizes outstanding contributions, involvement and service to ALLIANCE Hockey  in the area  of training.  ALLIANCE Hockey Trainer of the Year Award recipients have displayed commitment  to the ideals of ALLIANCE Hockey, have worked tirelessly for the improvement of the game at their local Association level and have made a notable impact on both the game and the players involved.  The recipient must be active in hockey during the year of the award presentation.

2016 RECIPIENT: ANDREW FENTON, WATERLOO MINOR HOCKEY ASSOCIATION


ALLIANCE HOCKEY REFEREE OF THE YEAR AWARD
The ALLIANCE Hockey Referee of the Year Award recognizes outstanding contributions, involvement  and service to ALLIANCE Hockey in the area of officiating. ALLIANCE Hockey Referee of the Year Award recipients have displayed commitment  to the ideals of ALLIANCE Hockey, have worked tirelessly for the improvement of the game at their local Association level and have made a notable impact on both the game and the players involved.  The recipient must be active in hockey during the year of the award presentation.

2016 RECIPIENT: DEAN COUTU, LONDON REFEREE'S GROUP
  • ALLIANCE HOCKEY AWARD OF MERIT
The ALLIANCE Hockey Award of Merit Award honours those individuals who have provided outstanding contributions, involvement  and service to ALLIANCE  Hockey. ALLIANCE Hockey Award of Merit recipients have displayed commitment to the ideals of ALLIANCE Hockey, have worked tirelessly for the improvement of the game at their local Association level and have had a notable impact on both the game and the players involved.  Awards  of Merit are awarded  by the ALLIANCE Hockey Executive Committee.
