Bantam Chiefs Making a Difference in Their Community
Komoka, ON - The Elgin Middlesex Bantam Chiefs are making a difference in their Community this season!  The team has set a goal to make 80 Shoeboxes which will be donated to My Sister's Place in London, a not-for-profit organization providing a broad range of services for women and their children living with the consequence of violence and abuse.
Beginning Saturday, they will also wear purple jersey's providing them with a 'voice' to describe their effort and to let their peers know that although they play a tough and physical game on the ice, they are united and in support of ending abuse against women and children.

The opportunity within the Shoebox project and why that one:
A small box will brighten a lady's Christmas - a lady who is unknown to the boys but is someone's mom, sister, aunt, grandmother or friend.  It also helps helps them to become advocates against abuse, a primary reason why a lady will seek the support from My Sister's Place and be a recipient of a shoebox.

Saturday, November 26, 2016 - 1:45pm Game vs Lambton Jr. Sting, Komoka CW & RC (Molson Pad):
At Saturday's game, Linda Armstrong from My Sister's Place will welcome everyone, describe what the boys are doing and then she will provide the ceremonial puck drop. Representatives from the London Women's Abused Centre will also be in attendance.

This campaign will run from November 26 until December 14, 2016. In addition to shoeboxes, the team is accepting donations for socks and mittens.  Their hope is to gather a large quantity of these items so that they can donate to several shelters within their community.

How you can help:
The team would like to have as many people as possible at Saturday's game wearing purple and if they could make a donation of a pair of socks or mittens it would be appreciated. Donation boxes will be set up at the rink entrance.
