Stratford, ON - "
Friends helping friends" as quoted by the Mt. Hamilton Minor Hockey Association, perfectly describes the Bring a Buddy events held this past weekend in Hamilton and Brantford! The Bring a Buddy events were introduced to provide players new to the game an opportunity to experience an ice session alongside one of their friends who is currently registered in minor hockey.
Rosedale Minor Hockey Association,
Mount Hamilton Minor Hockey Association and the
Brantford Minor Hockey Association (Chedoke Minor Hockey Association also hosted an event on Sept. 29th) all hosted events over the weekend and were successful in introducing numerous kids to our great game. Jerseys and a 'goodie' bag were also provided to all participants along with the on-ice experience.
Below are some statements from the weekend:
"I spent time on Saturday morning with a great group of volunteers and participants at Hamilton's Rosedale Minor Hockey and their Bring a Buddy to the rink activity. It was a great success! The kids looked like they were having a terrific time", said ALLIANCE Hockey Region 1 Vice-President Gerry Potter.
"Great day at the Bring a Buddy event hosted by Mount Hamilton MHA, quoted ALLIANCE Hockey Chair of Recreational Council Larry Moreland.
"Friends helping friends. is all about the kids and teaching moments. I’d call this Success!" from @mhmha_hockey
"A very cool thing happened on Saturday. One of our BMHA families brought a family member from Australia who is visiting Canada. Ike Vogt had his first hockey experience on Saturday and loved it", said Brantford Minor Hockey Association Director of Recreational Hockey Rob Symons.
Thank you to all of the Hosts and the current players for providing the opportunity to the buddies. Thanks to the buddies as well for taking the opportunity to experience the greatest game on ice!
