Stratford, ON - ALLIANCE Hockey is pleased to announce that the West Atom and Peewee MD teams will interlock with various teams in the OMHA Shamrock League for the 2018-19 season.
The Atom and Peewee teams will play six games each against the Shamrock League teams in the Regular Season schedule. Following the Regular Season, there will be a Playoff round consisting of games against ALLIANCE teams only, followed by a Playdown round, again with ALLIANCE teams only. The ALLIANCE Hockey West MD teams that will be participating in the interlock are from the London Bandits, North London Nationals, Oakridge Aeros, West London Hawks and the Sarnia Jr. Sting.
"The interlock is a great opportunity to reduce travel while still experiencing great competition for our Atom and Peewee MD teams”, noted GLHA Chair, Sean Wheatley. "We are looking forward to starting the season and playing the Shamrock League teams."
Shawn Antosiak represented the Sarnia Jr. Sting in the interlock discussions with the Shamrock League. “The interlock will eliminate travel to the Far East regions of ALLIANCE Hockey which will be a considerable cost savings for our participants. We are looking forward to the interlock competition and playing some new teams”, said Antosiak.
Following the ALLIANCE Hockey Playdown round, successful West MD teams will have an opportunity to compete in the 2019 ALLIANCE Hockey MD Championships April 11-14, 2019 hosted by the GLHA in London, ON.
