Ottawa, ON - Congratulations to Gary McFarlane who was honoured on Friday, May 31st by Hockey Canada as the 2019 Gordon Juckes Award recipient.  McFarlane has dedicated over two decades to supporting minor hockey and continues to play a huge role in ALLIANCE Hockey Development Programs.

In honour of Gordon Juckes, Hockey Canada proudly recognizes individuals for their outstanding contribution to the development of amateur hockey in Canada at the national level. Nominees are from the fields of research, sports medicine, psychology, coaching, officiating, administration or related categories. Gordon Juckes was Hockey Canada’s first full-time executive director. His tenure began in 1960 and concluded in 1977 with his retirement. Shortly thereafter, he was inducted as a Life Member of Hockey Canada and an Honorary Member of the IIHF.  A list of recipients may be found here.

McFarlane has held numerous positions in Hamilton along with ALLIANCE Hockey; as a Master NCCP Course Conductor, he has provided NCCP courses, has played a part in developing the High Performance 1 curriculum, overseen the U-16 and U-17 Programs of Excellence and has been an integral lead with the revamped Initiation Program.
