The
2021-22 ALLIANCE Hockey AAA, AA & A Seasons culminated with season capping Championships and Champions have now been determined at all but one division (the U16AAA Championships are still in progress).
While it wasn't a conventional season by any stretch it still lead us to the exciting Championship series and events that have been held over the past few weeks!
Following the shut down in January, ALLIANCE Hockey and the Member Associations coordinated a plan to ensure that all players had the opportunity to play meaningful hockey further into the season.
With that came adjustments to the post-season formats and included the introduction of Championship Weekend events where teams who were successful coming out of the Playdown rounds advanced to a final weekend Championship, depending upon the division and category:
- Brantford - U10AA, U10A, U11AA, U11A
- Essex - U13AAA
- Kitchener - U15AAA
- Sarnia - U10AAA, U11AAA
- St. Thomas - U13AA, U13A, U15AA, U15A
Other divisions hosted traditional series to determine the Champions.
In summary, over 430 post-season games have been played with over 150 teams participating.
"It has been exciting to be back in the rinks and enjoying championship hockey again," said Executive Director Tony Martindale. "Associations, Officials, players, families...everyone has faced challenges and it has been special to see the smiles on all the faces, the last few weeks especially."
