As we begin the 2024-2025 minor hockey season it is important to
provide a reminder to all Members about appropriate conduct.
Minor
hockey is dependent upon relationships with local facilities to ensure that we
can provide successful programming throughout the season. We must ensure that
we always respect facilities whether at home or at another venue. This includes
being respectful of venue Staff, property (i.e. change rooms, lobbies, etc.),
other facility users, etc. Furthermore, this includes playing appropriate
music in change rooms, during warmups and during on-ice functions.
All teams are required to abide by the rules and regulations provided by facilities/arenas and respecting the guidelines regarding arrival times and use of public areas within the facility.
ALLIANCE Hockey has received concerns from facilities regarding teams arriving 1.5 – 2 hours prior to scheduled ice time(s). In most cases, change rooms are not available this early as they are occupied by other user groups/teams. Further concerns then develop with the hazard of equipment bags left in public spaces/lobbies, hallways, outside change room doors, warmups in unauthorized spaces, etc. Along with the associated safety concerns, this prevents Facility Staff from easily accessing and cleaning spaces.
Helpful tips:
- Follow the dressing room guidelines for each facility, minimum access is typically 30 minutes before game time
- Be prepared in advance - know your facility, conduct warmups in appropriate locations
- Don't leave bags and sticks in hallways
- Consider taping your stick at home
- Ensure music is not too loud or inappropriate
Minor hockey programs and participants are under continued scrutiny of general observers, facility operations and live streaming cameras. ALLIANCE Hockey has an expectation of members and participants to always conduct themselves in a manner consistent with the values of ALLIANCE Hockey which include fairness, integrity, and mutual respect.
ALLIANCE Hockey is committed to placing the players and the game in the forefront in an environment that is fun, safe, and inclusive and will not tolerate any contradicting behaviour(s).
ALLIANCE Hockey thanks all teams for being mindful of facility/arena guidelines especially regarding arrival times, warm up areas and playing appropriate music and ensuring that public spaces are safe and accessible for all users.
We are looking forward to a great season and wish everyone the best of luck.
