ALLIANCE Hockey Grow the Game Guide - FOR ADMINISTRATORS
INTRODUCTION:
The ALLIANCE Hockey Guide to Growing the Game is designed for minor hockey leaders to assist them in providing programs and tools to realize their goal of acquiring and retaining additional players.
To complete the ALLIANCE Hockey Guide to Growing the Game initiative, committed Associations will utilize programs that emphasize the main driving forces of growth - Retention, Recruitment & Transition.
Retention: Welcome Week – (minimum time for web message to be posted universally across the ALLIANCE)
Recruitment: Bring a Buddy to the Rink - Association’s Set Date specific to their programming
ALLIANCE Hockey Jersey Day
Transition: Transition Programs - Begin shortly after your Bring a Buddy to the Rink
Additional growth initiatives:
- Implement your own original growth program
- Send an 8 & under specific newsletter
- Host an equipment drive
- Send an end-of-season survey
- Send an end-of-season "thank you" postcard
REVIEW OF TIMELINE:
*Two Weeks out of your Event
- Order Jerseys, goody bags and grassroots promotional material. You must provide a list with first and
last names, dates of birth and jersey sizes (at minimum) for both the current participant and buddy
August
-Provide Jersey Day Posters at Council Meeting
-Mail out posters to those not attending
September
-Post Welcome video message on Member Association websites and share via social media outlets
September
- Coordinate a plan to follow up with families who have not yet registered for the 2018-19 season
December
-Deadline to submit Grow the Game Reports (Fall Sessions)
